Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)

The goal of PREP is to assist parents in the religious education of children attending public schools to prepare them to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist in Grade 2 and Confirmation in Grade 7.

PREP used to be known as CCD (Catechism Confraternity of Christian Doctrine or simply as "Catechism," and provides religious education to Catholic children attending non-Catholic schools.

Our program has two intakes for our fall and winter semesters. 

Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist

1. We will be using a resource for sacramental preparation entitled Blessed! by Dynamic Catholic.
2. Sessions will be offered online for parents in small group formats (6 weeks) each semester (3 weeks per sacrament). Families will have the opportunity to register for EITHER the Fall/Winter OR the Winter/Spring sessions.
3. Parents will attend faith formation sessions online to help guide their children’s learning and grow the faith of the family at home. The attendance of at least one parent will be required.
4. Parents will be responsible for helping to prepare with the help of video sessions and materials provided. Don’t worry; it will be fun!

Confirmation

1. Opportunities to prepare and celebrate Confirmation will be offered twice a year (Fall/Winter 2021 and Winter/Spring 2022).
2. We will be using DECISION point by Dynamic Catholic along with additional varied resources for Confirmation preparation
3. There will be 6 consecutive weekly preparation sessions offered ONLINE each semester
4. A choice of which online small group session (day of the week) to attend based on availability.
5. Parent(s) and children will attend all the sessions together online and participate in the same groups for discussion. The attendance of at least one parent will be required.
6. Parent(s) will be responsible for facilitating at-home sessions with their child
7. The Candidates will have an opportunity to experience Eucharistic Adoration and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (refer to schedule for dates)
8. To help offset costs with programs, Zoom accounts, and materials there is a registration fee of $25.00. This can be paid via e-transfer or parish giving through Pllenty at https://dol-holyfamily.pllenty.com/#/
9. We encourage parents to participate in Alpha at Holy Family Parish in either the fall or winter sessions.
